Male Sexual Potency — A Chinese Herbal Prescription (7)

MALE SEXUAL POTENCY – - A Chinese herbal prescription.
Declining potency for males are usually due to aging, sudden or continuous weakening of health, or too much sex when young. There are many Chinese herbs that can arrest the decline. If taken over a period of time, they will gradually bring back your virility. Of course, they cannot bring you back to when you were 18.

Chinese herbs cannot deliver the mechanical performance of Viagra and the likes. Furthermore, they don’t give you the expected effect when you take them a few hours beforehand. Being a product of nature, they help you build up the potency at the rate your body can handle (not what your mind wants). Think of it as muscle building where a sustained effort gives you a long-term effect. After a period of time as short as a few weeks, you’ll find that the herbs are steadily working for you.

The prescription should basically be a strengthening combination aiming at the kidneys, the blood, the Qi, and the Yang.
1) Kidneys

Qian Shi ? ?
Rou Cong Rong ? ? ?
2) Blood
Chuan Xiong ? ?
Dang Gui ? ?
Shu Di Huang ? ? ?
3) The Qi
Huang Qi ??
Du Huo ? ?
Gou Ji ? ?
4) The Yang
Suo Yang ? ?
Xian Ling Pi ? ? ?
Ba Ji Tian ? ? ?
A combination of 13 herbs are recommended.

One must be careful not to prescribe an overdose for fast results. The consequence may be negative. When strengthening herbs are used, they generate a lot of heat inside the body. Excess heat may bring on sleep difficulty, mouth sores, headache, nose bleeding, or constipation. Worse, it may cause your blood pressure to rise.

Drink one cup (8 oz) of herb tea a day, preferably in the morning to allow time for the excess heat to dissipate from your body before bedtime.
Drink more water if you feel more thirsty than usual.

This is just one formula with countless variations depending on:
* Your age
* How weak is your body.
* How sensitive is your body to the strengthening herbs.

    I think I know what …
I think I know what you mean. When a herbalist is making a formula, he is doing it to achieve a particular goal. In this case for better sexual potency :) . By applying the correct rationale he will then be able to choose the best method to achieve the goal. Here the method is nourish Blood, strengthen Kidneys, Qi and Yang. Then with the correct method adopted he can pick the herbs to make the formula. So you could make this formula with many different herbs but always same method.

    Thanks for the …
Thanks for the explanations. I think I do understand what you are saying. I don’t see Chinese Medicine as a science because it doesn’t seek rigorous proofs like science does. But as you have said before just because it is not ’scientific’ does not mean that it isn’t rational and logical. It seems to me that the emphasis with Chinese med is in the practical results, not in proving why something works.

The 4 treasures is just a convenient simple formula for blood nourishment. People can remember them easily. It’s not something sacred. You can break it up, use it partially, use it as a platform to add other herbs, and any other way you like. It’s the result that counts, not which component you miss.

Let me use an analogy: You get get to your destination (result) by driving on the same road (reasoning) on a hundred different car models (prescriptions). Got it?

In each prescription, I select about 12 herbs from over 1000 available in the dictionary. Do you see the rich combinations I can have? I can turn around and give you 50 different prescriptions that achieve the same result. My herbs change in each prescription. However, my reasoning should not if I want to deliver the same result. If you rely on your memory, it does not get you anywhere. Use your reasoning!

Why should I? You are still far from getting the concept. Don’t treat Chinese medicine as a science. Consider herbalists as chefs who put together different herbs for cure.
Each herbalist has his own style. The only test is can he deliver the results. You learn an herbal prescription by studying how an herbalist uses his reason to arrive at the formula, not remembering which herbs he uses.
How do you learn to be a good chef?

Hi John, I notice in this formula you are using most of the herbs from the Four Treasures formula you discussed in another video. But in this formula you are not using the fourth herb Bai(Chi) Shao, why is that?
