First instalment of diet vs. exercise where Craig Ballantyne and Brad Pilon show you how ineffective cardio is and just how dramatic your calorie intake can be without you knowing it.

The simple truth is; you can’t out-train a bad diet.

Today, in this contest, Craig Ballantyne is going to run on the treadmill on an incline of .5 and a speed of 10.5 mph for 3 minutes, while Brad Pilon eats pizza and drinks soda pop.

Brad is going to try to consume as many calories as he can in those 3 minutes, while Craig is going to see how many calories he can burn off in that same amount of time.

In 3 minutes, Brad consumed approximately 1000 total calories, while Craig burned only 43 calories.

Cardio loses against diet.

This just goes to show you, in diet vs. exercise, you can never out train a bad diet. It doesn’t matter how good your program is, if this is your nutrition, you’re not going to lose fat.

    Not true, he says …
Not true, he says cardio is a joke. That is far from the truth because cardio is good for your heart so this video is stupid.

  17. jeffreysyang Says:

    honestly… he is …
honestly… he is just saying that diet is the first thing to change. Cardio will only work if your diet is less than how much u consume, otherwise doing cardio will be useless in terms of losing weight.

  18. jeffreysyang Says:

    and btw, 3-5 miles …
and btw, 3-5 miles would take around….. 21 to 35 minutes (if you are running nonstop and 7 minutes per mile). If you want to run half an hour for every 2 slices of pizza and a soda, imagine what u have to do when you go eat at a buffet or 3 meals of pizza and soda. its not moronic; its just telling you the fastest way to lose weight. XP

  19. jeffreysyang Says:

    chill out man…

    chill out man…
what the video is saying is that it is easier to gain calories than working it off. In 3 minutes, the guy ate iono, 2 slices which they said was about 800 cal. The other guy worked out for the same amount of time to burn 43 cal. So if u calculate it, it would take around 20 minutes to burn away what u ate in 3 minutes. Main point is: in order to lose weight, you have to eat less than you are burning.

  20. jacquelineveronique Says:

    Cardio ineffective …
Cardio ineffective ? Sure, just sit on the couch and get fat is a better option than working on your health through cardiovescular exercise. One hour cross trainer is 700 calories gone. This video is BS because everybody knows it’s easier to consume calories than to loose it. Drink a Long Island in 5 minutes and you can’t run that off in same time.

  21. HateHumanity Says:

    yes but each slice …
yes but each slice of pizza i around 650 cal each.

  22. Swede12773 Says:

    The point lost here …
The point lost here is that calories burned on an exercise machine (ie treadmill) are no where near accurate, hence people tend to give themselves credit for burning X# of calories because that’s what the machine says. You can’t out exercise bad eating habits, yes, but there’s a lot more to it than just going by what a machine tells ya. Intensity baby – nothing else.

  24. grizz133 Says:

    LOL so true
    LOL so true

  25. darknight0dc Says:

    this little …
this little experiement seems rather skewed. first off most people (even fatties like myself) dont make an effort to scarf down as much fatty food as possible. also (i dunno about you but) most people will run a steady speed for a lengthy amount of time & burn more calories.
yes diet is very important but this study is skewing the facts to prove their own point.

  26. Chris Bronchetti Says:

I can totally recommend Peter’s book. I have been doing the ‘Master Cleanse’ for probably almost 15 years. Several of my friends do it also, many do it to help with seasonal allergies. I didn’t learn too much new when reading the book; however, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I did appreciate the straw tip for the salt water flush; it helps some. It reaffirmed why I love to do the cleanse, the benefits of it and the importance of trying to stick to Stanley Burroughs instructions as closely as possible. It was fun to read peoples reactions, symptoms and benefits. Two years ago I did my longest cleanse for 28 days. I am on one now, day 20 and would like to beat my own record. I have loaned my book out several times along with the Boroughs booklet. Thank you Peter for writing the book. I am sure it will help many to try it.
