How can I cleanse my digestive system after eating junk food?
Author: admin | Category: cleanseI ate a lot of junk food last night, and I want it out of me as soon as possible, since I’m usually a healthy eater and I exercise daily. Is there some kind of over the counter medicine that can sort of reset/cleanse the digestive process? Thanks.
Whatever you do, don’t go for the "colon cleansers" that are out there. They are frauds, and will make you unhealthy in other ways by messing up your internal flora. No real doctor has ever agreed that they work and are a good thing.
The best way to clean out your colon the natural way and the way that it was meant to be cleansed is to drink lots of water, and eat food with lots of fiber such as whole grains and fruits and veggies.
Also, this may be my personal opinion, but one night of eating junk food won’t do you any harm if you eat healthy and excercize regularly. You might be getting a little OCD about this. You feel that by eating it you ruined your healthy diet and screwed up your junk-free system. The reality is, you didn’t, so don’t worry. It takes months of eating junk food regularly to build up in your system where you need to "reset."

lol….no medicine or fast can get rid of toxins. Eat fruits, raw veggies and lots of water for a day. You’ll get rid of the bad stuff you received from fast food.

No, just go back to your usual healthy routine, and the rubbish will leave your system naturally.

I agree with the first answerer, lots of veggies, eat salads and fruits and drink lots of water. I’d also recommend hot herbal teas, or any hot drinks because hot liquid is a great colon cleanser.
Another great one, and really healthy, is to cook some beets, then cut them up and eat them warm with some dressing if you like. beets are marvellous for smoothing out the bowels and causing a good bowel movement to push out the junk food remains. Eating them warm makes them even more effective, and they also cleanse the liver.
I ate junk food the other day, and yesterday had salad, veggie soup that I made, lots of hot tea, strawberries and apples, and veggie chili that I made. The rest of the junk food got eliminated from my system quite well. I normally eat really healthy and work out every day, so I notice how crappy junk food makes me feel. Well, hope I helped! take care

Digestion is the mechanical and chemical breaking down of food into smaller components, to a form that can be absorbed, for instance, by a blood stream. The process finishes with defecation. The food enters the mouth, being chewed by teeth, and broken down by the saliva from the glands. Then it travels down the esophagus into the stomach. Acids break down most of the food. The ‘leftovers’ go through your small intestine, through your large intestine, and comes out as waste. Digestion is a form of catabolism. In short, digestion is the process of conversion of complex substances into simpler ones for easy absorption and assimilation by the body. Below is a website I found interesting, you might as well.
